Foundation
ALE was founded in 1989 in Rome by representatives of four train drivers'
unions from:
- Germany (represented by Karl Klein, Manfred Schell and others),
- Italy (represented by Guiseppe Minutoli),
- The Netherlands (represented by Jan Altena) and
- Switzerland (represented by Fritz Schneider).
